Afghanistan Premier League (APL) is set to take place from October 5-21 at Sharjah. The player draft held in Dubai saw team Paktia bag Pakistani superstar Shahid Afridi as the icon player.
The tournament will feature 5 teams including Balkh, Paktia, Nangarhar, Kandahar and Kabul. A total of 23 matches will be played to decide the champion of the inaugural edition of the league.
Other Pakistani players which were picked at the draft include Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Hafeez, Kamran Akmal, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Irfan, Sohail Tanvir, Iftikhar Ahmed and Faheem Ashraf.
Wahab Riaz was picked as a diamond category player by Kandahar for $75,000.

Pakistan cricket team will be busy playing series against Australia in UAE from October 7-28, and Faheem Ashraf might miss out a number of APL matches. The T20I series starts on October 24 which means that Mohamad Hafeez and Mohammad Nawaz might well be available for all the matches for their teams.
Other players are not a regular part of the Pakistani team.
