Lenovo Z5 Pro is a Premium Midranger With an All-Screen Slider Design

Following up on the numerous teasers and leaks, Lenovo has finally revealed the Z5 Pro. Like the Honor Magic 2 and Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, Lenovo Z5 Pro is one of the few slider smartphones on the market with an all-screen display.

Here’s what it brings to the table.

Design and Display

Lenovo didn’t pull any punches in the design department. The Z5 Pro has a 4-sided curved glass back and a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED display (sourced from Samsung) with a Full HD+ resolution and a mind blowing 95% screen to body ratio. If true, this is the highest ever screen to body ratio ever seen on a smartphone.

Most of the sensors are hidden under the display or in the slider mechanism. Speaking of the slider tech, Lenovo used 6 double helix springs for the Z5 Pro unlike Xiaomi which used Neodymium magnets. It also comes with an under-display fingerprint reader but lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. Thankfully, Lenovo includes a USB-C to 3.5mm dongle in the box.

Internals and Storage

This is where things get less interesting. Lenovo Z5 Pro runs a Snapdragon 710 chipset with 6 GB RAM and 64 or 128 GB of internal storage. There is no memory card slot here.

It has ZUI 10 skin on top of Android Oreo (no Android Pie). There’s also an IntelliGo AI chip installed, which helps reduce noise during voice calls, aids with scene recognition as well as optimized power saving while the phone is on standby. There’s also a gaming mode which enhances CPU and GPU performance when needed.

Cameras

For its primary cameras, the Z5 Pro has an f/1.8 16MP Sony IMX576 sensor as well as a 24 MP Sony IMX519 lens.

Meanwhile, on the front, it features a 16+8 MP dual camera setup. There’s also an IR sensor next to the selfie cameras for face unlock.

Battery and Price

Last but not the least is the battery. Lenovo Z5 Pro comes with a 3,350 mAh unit and supports upto 18W fast charging.

The best part about the Z5 Pro is, arguably, its price. For the base 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage variant, you’ll have to pay 1,998 Yuan (~$287) and 2,998 Yuan (~$330) for the 128 GB version.

There’s a single black color available currently, official sale will begin in the coming days.
