Xiaomi Bamboo Slate is a Cheap Notepad That Can Digitize What You Write

Good news for digital artists, Xiaomi has recently launched a WACOM developed Bamboo Slate at the price of 799 Yuan which is around $115. You can buy your very own Bamboo slate from Amazon and the official Youpin store.

Youpin store is a Xiaomi owned website that sells various home products, different from the usual smart devices. The company also puts up products of associated companies for sale and distribution.

How does it work?

Xiaomi Bamboo Slate is sort of a digital notebook where you can digitalize all your paper notes and drawings. With the push of a button, you can get a digital copy of your handwritten or hand-drawn masterpieces.

You’ll be able to export, edit and synchronize sketches, drawings, graphics, notes on Android, iOS, and Windows with the help of WACOM Inkspace. You can choose the export formats as well, like Jpeg, PNG, PDF, WILL and many more.

There are various other features that you may not find on a normal drawing tablet, digital modification is also supported which, of course, is impossible on paper.

With the electromagnetic resonance technology, taking digital prints is just a single button away. The bottom is designed with stable and precise magnetic fields, which are displaced with the help of an electromagnetic pen, capturing and recording the writing signal in minutes. The writing can also be redone if needed.

WILL technology supports free handwriting trace and document splitting of digital documents. You can edit, delete and even color the document if you like in digital format. Connect it with any Bluetooth device with a dedicated app to display your paper writing.

You get the option to store your documents online and offline. With the offline option, you can store up to 100 pages at a time.

The best part is its portable and lightweight design, with the cover made with 100% handmade fabric, so you can carry it around with you anywhere.

Aqara Gateway Hub with support for Apple HomeKit

All the way back in August, Xiaomi introduced a new Aqara Gateway Hub that not just works with the Mijia app but also with the Apple HomeKit. With the Apple HomeKit, you would be able to control your smart products with Siri on your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or HomePod. Just say “Hey Siri” and command her to turn on/off the lights or lower the temperature, etc.

It is now available on sale and is priced at ¥299 which is $43. According to Xiaomi, it can also work with its own Xiao Ai voice assistant. Simply connect it with Wi-Fi (2.4GHz only) or Zigbee to use it.

You can link it with up to 32 smart devices like smart lights, the Aqara flood sensor, wireless switches, wall sockets, body sensor, temperature and humidity sensor, and Aqara motorized curtain.

The Aqara Gateway Hub works with iOS 11+ and Android 5.0+ devices. It weighs 186.5g and can work with a 100 – 240V AC power. It comes with NXP iMX6 CPU with 256MB of RAM.

The Aqara Gateway Hub also has an Apple-certified encryption IC. You can find this at the Youpin store
