Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme’s Construction to Begin in Karachi

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday said construction of low-cost housing units in Karachi under Naya Pakistan Housing Programme will start soon.

The Prime Minister stated this while chairing a meeting of the Task Force on Housing which held here to discuss the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister was briefed about the programme to build five million low-cost housing units for low-income segments of the society.

The Prime Minister was told about the progress so far made on the programme.

Addressing the meeting, Imran Khan said providing shelter to the homeless is the top priority of his government. The Naya Pakistan Housing Programme will promote and accelerate economic activities in the country.

The programme will also help provide jobs to jobless youths, Imran said, adding this will have a far-reaching and positive impact on the overall economy of the country.

The Prime Minister said constructions of housing units under the programme will be started soon in Karachi.

Earlier, the government had announced to add all the 36 districts of Punjab to Prime Minister’s Naya Pakistan Housing Programme.

Punjab Minister for Housing Mian Mahmood-ur-Rashid had announced that besides the districts, some tehsils of the province were also being included in the scheme.

Earlier total numbers of cities listed in the housing programme from across the country were 22.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had rolled out the mega housing project on 10th of October under which as many as five million low-cost houses would be constructed for the underprivileged class in the next five years.
