Xiaomi Play Gaming Phone is Coming on December 24: Rumors

It’s been a week or so since Xiaomi’s President Lin Bin revealed that a 48MP-camera phone is on the cards, the company has dropped yet another bombshell this time, by announcing that the Xiaomi Play smartphone is coming on December 24.

This was revealed by a Weibo (Chinese social media) user who said that the company was planning to hold a launch event between December 17 and December 26 with the most probable date being the Christmas Eve, December 24.

He did not reveal any other information regarding the latest flagship phone from the Chinese smartphone maker, however, the rumor mill suggests that the new Xiaomi Play would target a younger audience, especially those who love smartphone gaming.

Cheaper Black Shark?

As the name suggests, the phone is most likely to be a direct competitor of Honor Play in its price category. If true, this could mean that Xiaomi might be launching a more affordable gaming phone (compared to the Black Shark phones) for the masses.

Since Xiaomi already has gaming phones in the Black Shark series, this could be a relatively different phone. However, this is pure speculation, we will know for sure when Xiaomi actually announces the phone.

Whereas, according to some other Chinese sources, Xiaomi Play could be a rebranded Pocophone F1, given its low price and high-end chipset that has already sold 700,000 units across the globe.
