Punjab Govt to Launch Air Ambulance Services: CM Buzdar

Chief Minister Punjab Usman Bazdar has disclosed that the provincial government is deliberating on introducing an air ambulance service to ensure that the patients of far-flung areas reach hospitals in time.

The CM made this revelation while talking to a delegation of alumni doctors of King Edward Medical University (KEMU) from the US and the UK. The delegation was led by Minister for Health, Dr. Yasmin Rashid.

Buzdar also said that the current government is focused on the provision of quality healthcare facilities. It has been using different resources to offer the best treatment facilities for people.

He told that the government will ensure the presence of senior doctors in emergency wards of Punjab’s government hospitals. Moreover, work on the upgradation of the emergency wards is also underway.

The CM also sought recommendations from the health specialists, as there is a need to work on research and development in the medical sector.

He also said the work of Pakistani doctors, in other countries of the world, is commendable. He said that the government will utilize the expertise of the expat doctors to bring improvement in Pakistan’s health sector.

The CM told the doctors that he regularly reviews progress on the health sector’s reforms program.

Notably, Principal Secretary to CM Dr. Raheel Siddiqui, spokesman for Punjab government Dr. Shahbaz Gill, Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education VC KEMU Khalid Masood Gondal, Pro-VC Professor Ijaz Hussain, Dr. Ahmad Hassan, Dr. Naseem Sheikh, Dr. Tabinda, and Dr. Ayesha Najeeb of KEMU Alumni (North America), Dr. Tanzeem Haider and Dr. Zafar Iqbal of Association of Physicians of Pakistan (North America), and other senior doctors were also present in the meeting.


  • Air ambulance service by Edhi and other orgs in Punjab is already there. But I am sure that this service will help in covering the tracks of PTI as they will use such helicopters for personal trips.

  • excellent initiative, i hope they have a strong service and maintenance department , as seen in the past. we buy equipment and then after a few months/years it is put to scrap due to non availability of service and maintenance budget, this budget should be assigned at the time of procurement of the product. i hope someone realizes this as a helicopter is a very sensitive equipment and requires constant maintenance to be flight worthy…. else it will be grounded and will rust to destruction as in the case of many helicopters already bought for many other purposes by the previous govts…. .
