The number of 3G and 4G users in Pakistan have reached 62.99 million by the end of January 2019, stated Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
The number of mobile phone users in Pakistan have reached 153.302 million in January 2019, compared to 153.986 million by the end of December, registering an increase of 0.684 million during the period under review.
Jazz’s total count for 3G users stood at 13.72 million by January compared to 13.79 million by December, registering a decrease of 0.07 million. Jazz 4G user numbers jumped from 7.053 million in December 2018 to 7.606 million by January 2019.
Zong 3G subscribers decreased from 8.692 million in December to 8.66 million by January 2019 while the number of 4G users jumped from 9.860 million to 10.443 million in January.
The number of 3G users of Telenor network decreased from 9.136 million to 8.917 million in January. The number of 4G users jumped from 4.732 million by the end of December 2018 to 5.227 million in January 2019.
Ufone added 0.079 million 3G users on its network during the month of January as the total reached to 8.418 million compared to 8.339 million in December 2018.
Teledensity for cellular mobile increased to 75.78 percent by the end of the first month of 2019 compared to 75.15 in December and broadband subscribers reached 65,139,237 compared to 63,773,916 million in December.
PTA received 3,196 complaints from telecom consumers against different telecom operators including (cellular operators, PTCL, LDIs, WLL operators and ISPs) in November 2018.
According to PTA data, Jazz (Mobilink + Warid) leads the chart with 827 complaints and PTCL stands at the second position as the most complained telecom operator with 780 complaints.
PTA said that it was able to get 3,182 complaints resolved i.e. 99.56 percent.
Cellular mobile subscribers constitute a major part of the overall telecom subscriber base, therefore, a majority of complaints belong to this segment. The total number of complaints against CMOs by November 2018 stood at 2,358.
In terms of the segregation of complaints on operator basis, a total of 827 complaints were received against Jazz which is 35.07% of the total CMO related complaints.
Zong stood second with 531 complaints i.e. 21.51 percent of total complaints.
Telenor, which has the second largest number of consumers, was third with 528 i.e. 22.39 percent complaints.
Ufone had 472 complaints against its various services which make up 20.01 percent of the total CMO related complaints.
