The board of directors of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) has appointed Muhammad Waseem as the new acting managing director of the company.
Mr. Waseem, who was previously working as deputy managing director (MD) operations in the company, is the third to be appointed as the MD in the last two months.
He took charge as the acting MD after his senior Imran Farookhi stepped down from the post last week.
Farookhi was elevated to the post last month after Amin Rajpoot was removed from the post along with managing director of SNGPL on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Following his demotion, Mr. Rajpoot went back to his original assignment of chief financial officer (CFO) in the same company.
Informed sources said Mr. Farookhi and his counterpart in the SNGPL have been under pressure from influential members of the task force on energy and politically linked personalities to follow unwritten orders.
This has come amid ongoing controversy about over-billing to gas consumers that appeared after the 143pc increase in gas rates last year.
