Here’s How Pakistani Universities Ranked in the QS Subject Rankings for 2019

The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject 2019 is out. The ranking reveals the best universities for 48 different academic subjects.

It has featured National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) as the top in the discipline of Engineering and Technology in Pakistan. It has already been ranked for its disciplines of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science and Information Systems, and Physics and Astronomy.

This time, it has also been ranked by QS in the category of Business and Management and Mathematics, says the university’s press release.

Other universities ranked in the subject area of Engineering and Technology include COMSATS Institute of Information Technology and University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore.

Other universities that made to the QS Subject-wise rankings include

  • Agha Khan University, ranked for the subject area of Life Sciences and Medicine with a rank of 398.
  • Quaid-i-Azam University for the discipline of Natural Sciences with a risk of 401-450.

  • It should be a matter of serious concern for HEC as well as Pakistani universities that not one of them is in the top 395 rankings. PIEAS is at 397 and NUST is at 417. Pakistani universities need to improve the quality of their faculty, their student intake, their curriculum, and the quality of their PhD research before they can make it to the top 100 universities. That will take at least a decade if not more. But HEC and universities have to start now to achieve this in 10 years or more.
