|Quetta Gladiators (180/9) beat Islamabad United (137/9) by 43 Runs
Man of the Match: Ahmad Shahzad (QG)
Quetta Gladiators are unstoppable at the moment as they look the most compact unit in this year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Another win for the Sarfaraz-led side means that they are now sure to get one of the two top spots. A win in the qualifier will directly see them through to the grand final in Karachi on 17th March.
Coming back to how the match unfolded, Islamabad United captain, Mohammad Sami invited Quetta Gladiators to bat first.
Another superb innings from the forgotten opener, Ahmad Shahzad, who went on to score 73 off 46, made sure that Quetta posted a solid first innings total. The team ended with 180/9 thanks to handy contributions from Rilee Rossouw, Umar Akmal, and Mohammad Nawaz.
Faheem Ashraf picked 4 wickets for 18 runs in 3 overs.
A chase of 181 in Abu Dhabi is always a challenge, however, it looked like Islamabad United were up for a fight when the two openers were batting. The first wicket fell on 62 and the team never recovered from the first blow as wickets kept falling regularly.
Despite Ronchi’s brilliant 64, Islamabad United could only manage 137/9, thanks to tight bowling from all of Quetta bowlers. Fawad Ahmed got 3, while Sohail Tanvir and Mohammad Hasnanin bagged 2 wickets each.
Islamabad United are looking for their fifth win this season and qualification into the next round as they take on table-toppers Quetta Gladiators in the 26th game of PSL 2019 tonight at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

Players to Lookout For
Asif Ali has shown some glimpses this PSL but we are still awaiting a match-winning knock from the hard hitter. One big innings is coming and when it does, Asif Ali will single-handedly take his team to a secure position.
Shane Watson and Umar Akmal are among the leading run scorers in PSL this season and both are in sublime form. With Akmal pushing for a place in the national side, he would be keen to attract the selectors’ eyes with his performance.
