Smart TVs have been taking over the market in recent days and with their growth, major brands have taken full advantage of their popularity. This has led to the release of a variety of variants that have both, amazing functionalities and are affordable, at the same time.
TCL, one of the world’s top three TV brands, has produced a number of excellent Smart TVs in all price ranges.
With their Special Zalmi TV (S6500) which was launched in October 2018, they are targeting a very specific niche. We’ve had a chance to get our hands on a unit, so let’s have a closer look at what is making it so popular!
First off, the basic specifications. The Special Zalmi TV is a 40” Full HD Smart TV with a 1920×1080 pixels display. It comes equipped with a CA53*4 64-bit CPU, 1.5 GB RAM, and 8 GB of storage.
The Special Zalmi TV has a 60hz refresh rate and a 5000:1 contrast ratio. It comes with Dolby Audio, HDR support and Micro Dimming. A real highlight feature of the TV though is that it comes with both the Android OS and Google Assistant.
First of all, let’s take a look at the design of the TV. With slim bezels, it has a great screen size and while it isn’t 4K, the Full HD still makes for a fantastic viewing experience. Given the price point it’s being sold at, the visual features and display quality are very good.
So, how does the TV perform? Very well, actually.
The TV has an Android OS and is optimized to showcase it to the max. The TV takes full advantage of Android’s capabilities and the interface makes using apps such as Netflix and YouTube really easy and intuitive.
With a very nice contrast ratio, Micro Dimming and HDR support, the Zalmi Smart TV gives the display a nice little boost and detailed texture. The TV looks especially good when playing brighter visuals.
As always, Dolby is a great choice for audio quality. The bass is good and the sound levels are well balanced with sharpness and clarity. Dolby backed sound system is more than capable of staying at par with the sound systems on higher-end TV sets.
Having recently taken the number one spot in the Pakistani market, TCL has really shown its strengths. And while their high-end models such as the C6 have been their most successful, TCL has done a really good job of accommodating the mid-tier market with the Zalmi TV.
Given its price of Rs. 42,990, Zalmi TV is a very affordable choice for a Smart TV. With its excellent specifications and functionality for the price range, it gives the best value for money in the market. So if you are looking for a new TV and especially if you are shopping with a budget, Zalmi TV is a fantastic choice.
