In times when the other side of the border has been trying its best to sabotage one of Pakistan’s biggest assets, Pakistan Super League (PSL), the visit of a cricketer having Indian background is changing perspectives across the world.
Samit Patel, who currently plays for Islamabad United, says that this visit has changed his mindset about Pakistan. Talking about his experience in Pakistan, he said:
As an Indian, visiting Pakistan has been great. The experience of playing in Karachi was amazing and you can just see the love for cricket in Pakistan.
The Nottinghamshire cricketer is all praise for the hospitality of Pakistanis. And he “has heard lots of amazing things about Pakistan, especially Lahore, which I have not been to as yet”.
The cross-border tensions have eased up slightly as Pakistan’s efforts to ensure a peaceful solution to the issue bore fruit, to some extent.
Cricket is a sport which binds the two nations and Patel’s words about Pakistan definitely need to be heard on the other side of the Line of Control.
