Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) makes the headlines every now and then, but more often than not, it is not due to a good reason.
The airline has yet again shown negligent behavior, which has nothing to do with the scanty funds. For the past few months, every Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) meeting has included approvals of supplementary grants to PIA. However, the PIA management doesn’t seem to be paying attention to improving the passengers’ experience.
A Facebook page that provides updates on aviation, mainly regarding PIA, has shared a few images that show the IFE screens (In-Flight Entertainment screens) with the content tilted upside down.
The screens belong to the PIA flight PK757 from Lahore to London Heathrow. Reportedly, the IFE screens are incorporated in Boeing 777 aircraft seats.

Notably, the PIA management had earlier sought funds to revamp and install modern IFE systems. Ample funds have been given to the national flag carrier, but they do not seem to be showing on the PIA’s service quality.
Several people have opined that it is a minor issue and can be dealt with easily. They say the IFE system is not to blame here, as the upturned screens can be reversed by changing the settings.
Maybe, the outdated IFE systems are not the reason here. But the PIA staff’s casual attitude and negligence are still evident from these images. Passenger service is quite important for the business of an airline.
Everybody knows that Inflight Entertainment holds significance in the passenger service. On long-haul flights, IFE becomes a necessity. If the system is not good enough, the passenger will not opt for the same airline again.
