Google Summer of Code 2019 Applications Open Today

Google is now accepting applications for its 15th Google Summer of Code (GSoC) starting today. The deadline for applications is April 9, 2019.

GSoC is an international program that aims to introduce student developers to open source software development. It is a three-month program that begins during the semester break to enable interested students.

The selected developers connect with the mentors (the participant open source organizations) to work on a particular project. The program also offers a stipend and an unmatched exposure to real-life software development and the open-source community.

Why Apply?

As mentioned earlier, it is an opportunity to get real-world experience, which most of the students lack during their education. It will not only connect the students with the software development and open source community but also give an opportunity to work with leading professionals.

The opportunities for learning, exposure, and networking with the experts and professional will be aplenty. Another good reason to apply is that the students will receive a stipend of $3000 (Rs. 420,000).
