The Edhi Foundation has added a light, six-seater aircraft to its air ambulance fleet.
The foundation’s managing trustee, Faisal Edhi, handed over the six-seat Cessna 206 to Edhi air ambulance wing at the old Karachi airport. Faisal is also the head of Edhi Air Ambulance Service.
The foundation decided to expand its fleet to provide the people of far-flung areas easy and fast access to health care services in case of an emergency. The aircraft will strengthen the charity’s air ambulance service, as it will help execute the rescue efforts in remote regions.

The operation cost of the jet is Rs. 50,000 per hour while its acquisition cost the foundation Rs. 55 million. The Edhi Air Ambulance Service already possess a Piper Seneca aircraft and a Bell 206 helicopter that provide assistance during natural calamities.
“Now the fleet can provide airlift services to stranded or injured people and immediately shift them to the nearby hospital during a crisis,” says Faisal Edhi.
He also expressed gratitude to the overseas Pakistanis residing in Britain for their donations that enabled the purchase of the aircraft.
