Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) Managing Director Arshad Khan has said that the national broadcaster will turn into a profitable entity by the end of June 2019, after incurring losses for past years.
He said that PTV’s employees will benefit the most from the success. Speaking of PTV’s financial condition, the MD underlined that the current management received huge liabilities amounting billions of rupees along with a consistent loss-generating trend when it took charge.
He was confident that his team will stop this trend and complete an ambitious target of doubling the revenue from FY2017-2018.
As for the previous liabilities, especially those pertaining to pensioners, the PTV chief said that the broadcaster was negotiating several options with the government.
“One of our main focus is to rationalize our expenses in light of the PM’s austerity drive and optimize our revenue streams,” said Khan.
He added that as per the Prime Minister’s vision, PTV will remain the custodian of cultural and national values by broadcasting family entertainment, health sports, and credible news while displaying positive and prospering Pakistan to the world.
Khan also announced that PTV’s content will be made available on all digital media platforms very soon. He emphasized the need to invest in technological upgradation, professional human resource, better operational systems, and improved content.
