Former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff has said that England must call up Jofra Archer for World Cup 2019 squad at any cost.
Archer, the Barbados all-rounder, has featured for England twice over the last few days and has fulfilled the tweaked eligibility criteria.
On his debut against Ireland, he managed 1-40 as England registered a four wicket victory. In his following game, in a one-off T20I against Pakistan, Archer was the best bowler on the day with the figures of 2-29.
The young speedster has impressed in T20 leagues around the globe and Andrew Flintoff is particularly impressed with him.
He’s got to be in. He’s brilliant.
Flintoff said that England should look to drop anyone to make room for Jofra as he possesses the raw talent and the x-factor, which any team can use at the mega-event.
He is unbelievable – I was watching him bowl the other day and I found it so frustrating that a bloke can bowl so fast with what looks like so little effort. He has so much control, all the tricks – slower balls, bouncers, yorkers – and he bats as well.
Archer has not been included in the initial 15-man squad of England for the World Cup. However, he is part of the squad which will face a 5-ODIs series against Pakistan starting today.
