Last month, there were rumors about Xiaomi testing three devices with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Two of them were suspected to be Android One devices.
Just recently, Xiaomi India, posted a teaser on its official Mi forum. The teaser shows a triple sensor camera, which definitely means the phone being prepared for launch in India will sport a triple sensor camera.
The whole thing is mired in confusion. Xiaomi is supposedly working on its Mi 9 SE launch in India (already launched in China earlier), on the other hand, it is also readying for the launch of its Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite.
Which one of the three will it be? Both Mi A3 and A3 Lite are Android One phones, which are due to launch soon.
More Confusion
Kumar Jain, Xiaomi India’s managing director, hinted that the company’s next phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 700 series SoC. It can be Snapdragon 710, 712 or a 730. Now we don’t know which phone he’s hinting about. According to most of the analysts, he is talking about Xiaomi Mi A3 which will most probably feature a triple sensor camera with a 48 MP main sensor, which again, is similar to what the Mi 9 SE will boast.
XDA Leak
In a recent leak, the Editor in chief at XDA, Mishaal Rahman revealed that one of the Android One devices that Xiaomi is readying is codenamed ‘Bamboo_sprout’ and the other is named as ‘Cosmos_sprout’. Since, there is resemblance in both the names, these devices are suspected to be Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite. There is another handset with the code name ‘Pyxis’, which is suspected to be the EMUI version of ‘Bamboo_sprout’.
The codenamed phones are supposedly the phones Kumar Jain was talking about but since Mi 9 SE is also powered by the Snapdragon 712 SoC, we are at a loss here. Let’s just wait and see what Xiaomi really has up its sleeve.
