Heavy Rain Alerts Issued for KP and Other Regions

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PMDA) has released a weather advisory, forecasting heavy rains and gusty winds all over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) from Wednesday to Thursday.

The weather advisory was issued on Monday, predicting a heavy rain spell with a thunderstorm in the province, starting from May 15. It advises the district administration, Rescue 1122, and other relevant authorities to remain alert and take necessary measures to deal with the situation.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has also issued a statement saying,

A shallow westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country and likely to intensify on Wednesday.

This development is expected to cause dust-thunderstorm and rain at numerous places in KP, Islamabad, Punjab, Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan, Upper Sindh, and Kashmir from Wednesday to Thursday, states the Met department.

An isolated heavy rain spell is also expected in Kalat, Makran, Zhob, and D.G Khan divisions on Wednesday and Thursday. The Met department added that the cloudy weather with the odds of dust-thunderstorm accompanying light rain can also be expected along the Sindh-Makran coast including Karachi on Thursday and Friday.

The day temperatures are expected to drop by 4-6°C in several parts of the country for these days.
