OGDCL Makes Another Gas Discovery in Sindh

The Oil and Gas Development company has announced a new gas discovery in Sindh.  The Joint Venture of Nim block, comprising Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) as the operator (95%) and the Government Holding Private Limited (5% carried), has discovered gas and condensate from its exploratory cum appraisal Well, Mangrio #01, which is located in district Tando Muhammad Khan, Sindh.

According to a notification to the  Pakistan Stock Exchange, the structure of Mangrio Well #01 was drilled and tested using OGDCL’s in house expertise.

The well was drilled down to a depth of 2,676 Meters. 10.44 MMSCFD gas, 120 BPD condensate have been tested through choke size 32/64” at Wellhead flowing pressure 2085 Psi from lower Guru B-sand.

Furthermore, the notification said that the discovery of Mangrio Well #01 is the result of the aggressive exploration strategy adopted by the company.

It has opened a new avenue and would add to the hydrocarbon reserves base of the OGDCL and of the country.

The OGDCL holds the largest portfolio of recoverable hydrocarbon reserves of Pakistan – 32 percent of gas and 55 percent of oil.

It contributed 29 percent of the country’s total natural gas production and 46 percent of its total oil production from July 2018 to December 2018.

With a portfolio of 46 exploration licenses, the company has the largest exploration acreage in Pakistan, covering 26% of the total awarded acreage as of December 31, 2018.
