Mobile phone imports witnessed a decline of 6.86 percent in the first ten months (July-April) of 2018-19 coming down to $631.997 million compared to $678.575 million during the same period last year.
Mobile phone imports in April 2019, which stood at $74.813 million, registered 0.95 percent decline as compared to $75.529 million in April 2018.
Last month’s figure was 5.36 percent lower when compared to $79.049 million in March 2019. These figures were revealed in the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Overall telecom imports saw a decline of 8.64 percent during July-April (2018-19) when compared to the same period of last year. Total imports were recorded at $1.156 billion during this period when compared to $1.266 billion in July-April (2017-18), while registering a 2.06 percent decline in April 2019. This figure stood at $125.130 million in April 2019 as compared to $127.768 million during March 2019.
Other telecom apparatus imports witnessed a noticeable decline of over 10.69 percent in July-April (2018-19) standing at $524.921 million against $587.768 million during the same period last year. When compared to March 2019, other telecom apparatus imports registered a 3.28 percent growth in April with $50.317 million compared to $48.719 million in March 2019.
