The upcoming Redmi 17 5G is shaping up to be a notable upgrade over its predecessor, with new certification listings confirming a significantly larger battery.
The smartphone is expected to pack a 7,500 mAh battery, up from the 7,000 mAh unit found in the Redmi 15 5G, giving users more battery life while retaining 45W fast charging support.
The Redmi 17 5G has recently appeared in certification databases in Malaysia (SIRIM) and Taiwan (NCC), indicating that its global launch could be just around the corner. The listings also confirm the phone’s model number, 26062RN92G.
According to the certifications, the Redmi 17 5G will be available in four memory configurations: 4GB + 64GB, 4GB + 128GB, 4GB + 256GB, and 8GB + 256GB.
Besides the larger battery, the Redmi 17 5G is expected to support 45W fast charging, matching its predecessor. It will also offer 5G connectivity, along with dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, and an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance.
The Redmi 17 5G will succeed the Redmi 15 5G globally, as Redmi is skipping the number 16, following the same naming strategy Xiaomi adopted for its smartphones last year.
The Redmi 15 5G was introduced in early August 2025. With the Redmi 17 5G already receiving regulatory approvals, its official debut could take place before the end of this month. The timing also aligns with Redmi’s confirmation that the Chinese Redmi Note 17 series will launch in July, suggesting the company is preparing for a busy release schedule.
