Pakistan Railways Offers 50% Off Fares for Eid-ul-Fitr

Pakistan Railways (PR) has announced a 50 percent reduction in fares for the bookings on the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr, 2019. It was announced in a notification released on Monday, 27th May.

The notification issued from the Railways Headquarters in Lahore said that the reduction in fares was applicable to all classes and trains. Only the tickets reserved in advance are valid for the discount, it added.

“The competent authority has been pleased to grant a 50% reduction in fares on all trains & classes on the advance reservation on the auspicious occasion of 1st Day of Eid-ul-Fitr,” reads the notification.

The notification added that the decision will not only facilitate the passengers but will also enhance the earnings and occupancy on the first Eid day.

Director IT of PR has requested the concerned authorities to open advanced bookings at the earliest.

Things to keep in view:

According to PR:

  1. The concessional fares should not be less than the minimum fares of Rs. 50.
  2. Every passenger can avail one concession at a time.
  3. Boy scouts, already availing the facility, are not eligible.

It is worth mentioning here that to facilitate the commuters on the occasion of Eid; PR has decided to run five special trains. Their bookings will start from tomorrow.

  • Today I visited Karachi City Railway station for eid booking but the person available for ticketing Mr. Daniyal and a lady refuse to book the seats on discount fares by claiming that no such information/fares updated on their systems. Does railway make fool with the citizens or the staff doing itself for ruining the image of Pak Railway?

  • Yes. Railway and Sheikh Rasheed is making fool to the nation. This facility is only applicable for Eid day and not for advance booking

  • I’ve booked tickets online and didn’t get any concession there. they are making fool or hopefully they will reimburse the amount of concession. I don’t know but this is ridiculous.

  • Today is Eid day and I am trying to book seats on 50% concession rate as announced by Government but I m seeing the same rates as before. It’s ridiculous to announce concession on Eid as it is not there. I don’t know why government is doing such foolish act to make fun of themselves.
