A government school teacher from Fatehpur has been booked for forcing a minor boy to eat grass as a punishment for not learning a lesson.
The local police swung into action after a video went viral on social media a few days back.
In the video, seven-year-old Kashan can be seen being forced to either read out the lesson correctly or eat grass on every failed attempt.
The teacher, identified as Hamid Raza, is told to be a relative of the victim. He is working on a contract basis in the school.
“The teacher is our relative, and we forgive him for the act that he did as a joke,” Asghar, father of Kashan, said.
District Police Officer (DPO) Malik Jameel Zafar has not let off the teacher lightly and directed an investigation into the video. He vowed to take strict action if the teacher was found guilty.
After the initial investigation, a first information report (FIR) has been launched against the teacher at the Jalla Arain Police Station. Following this, the police raided Hamid’s house to arrest him, but he was not home.
Kashan’s father, on the other hand, said he would forgive the teacher in court as well.
