In November 2018, Xiaomi and Meitu decided to collaborate such that Xiaomi will produce Meitu branded smartphones and in return, Xiaomi will get to use Meitu’s camera patents, since the company is known for its selfie phones. The phone release marketing, distribution, and support will also be handled by Xiaomi.
A poster just surfaced on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo revealing the first smartphone designed under the collaboration. The phone looks like it is specifically designed for women and has a code name ‘little fairy’ with the claims of better and more powerful photography.
The phone will integrate advanced intelligent hardware and advanced AI beauty technology. This Xiaomi Meitu phone is co-built at the AI aesthetic laboratory that was also recently visited by Lin Bin, who is the co-founder and president of Xiaomi. He also posted some videos and images on his Weibo feed.

Design
From the poster, the phone looks like it borrows some design ideas from ASUS ZenFone 6/6z and Huawei Mate 20 Pro. It features a flip camera like ASUS ZenFone 6, however, the flip camera sported by little fairy is larger since it consists of three sensors. The flip camera will have dual functionality, working as both the front and rear cameras.
The camera specifications are not known but based on the current trends, we are pretty sure the main sensor will be a 48MP snapper. If so, this phone might become the best selfie phone ever made.
