Rumors about the new Vivo Y series phone were making rounds on the internet for a long time. Finally, the company launched the Vivo Y12 to put an end to all the gossip.
The smartphone comes with a reasonable price tag and is available in two variants. Its key highlights are the design, gradient finish, and a huge battery.
Vivo has targeted the lower mid-range market and has combined a few entry-level specifications with some upper mid-range features to bring out a smartphone that is trendy yet reasonable.
Design and Display
Vivo Y12 has a stunning gradient glossy finish at the back but unfortunately, the back is made of plastic. Even though it works, we all know plastic backs are not quite sturdy. It has the generic mid-range camera and fingerprint sensor placement on the back. The phone comes in two colors: burgundy red and aqua blue.
Following its predecessors, this phone also comes with Halo Fullview display, which means the selfie camera is housed in a waterdrop notch. Vivo Y12 sports a 6.35-inch display with 720p resolution and 19.3:9 aspect ratio.
Internal and Storage
On the hardware front, we have a MediaTek Helio P22 processor paired with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage. The storage is expandable up to 256GB via memory card.
Software-wise, the phone runs on FunTouch OS 9 flavored Android 9.0 Pie. The fingerprint sensor is housed on the back.
Cameras
Vivo decided to incorporate a triple sensor rear camera in its lower mid-range phone, but that’s not a first. On the back, we have a 13 MP main sensor followed by 8 MP ultra-wide sensor and 2 MP depth sensor. The rear camera is paired with an LED flash.
On the front, we have an 8 MP single sensor. The huge 5000 mAh battery is the key feature without a doubt. It is charged via a MicroUSB port which is a bummer. Without fast charging the 5000 mAh battery will take ages to charge.
