Pakistan International Airlines is working together with Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to restore the long-forgotten Muzaffarabad Airport.
A meeting between AJK Chief Secretary Mathar Niaz Rana and CEO of Pakistan International Airlines Air Marshal Arshad Malik took place in Islamabad today.

During the meeting, it was decided that after the renovation process, Muzaffarabad Airport will soon be opened for commercial flights. The decision would air-link the region with the rest of the world and is likely to attract more tourists.
A feasibility report on the restoration of flights between Islamabad to Muzaffarabad will also be prepared within a week.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, during a meeting on tourism last month, said that there was vast potential for tourism in AJK which should be explored.
While chairing a meeting on development projects, tourism and other matters of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), PM Khan had asked their government to devise a comprehensive strategy for the promotion of tourism in the region and assured them of full support from the federation.
