Samsung Patents a Triple Display Phone With a Massive Chin

Smartphone companies come up with all sorts of designs for phones and Samsung is no exception.

The Korean phone maker has come up with an outlandish idea of a triple-display smartphone. Over the past few months, we have seen some very ambitious patents being made public (let’s not forget IBM’s folding smartphone patent), but this one takes the cake.

Filed in August, the patent was granted in March and made public last week.

The patent has 10 sketches that show that the ambitious device will have a round bottom which functions as an anchor for the 3 displays.

The round bottom unit has a metal rod to hold the three displays together. From the looks of it, the user will be able to flip through each display independently. Also, we don’t see any buttons or cameras on the patent sketches except the receiver. One of the sketches also shows that the back of this smartphone will be completely smooth.

Letsgodigital made the following renders showcasing what the actual device (if completed) will look like.

The device hardly looks practical by today’s standards. Let’s hope Samsung doesn’t go ahead with this one.
