Incidents of bird strikes at airports have increased drastically over the past few months, resulting in significant losses to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
To prevent these accidents from happening in the future, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has decided to install automatic bird repellant systems at major airports around Pakistan.
According to sources, Director General (DG) CAA Shahrukh Nusrat has issued the orders for installing bird repellent systems at Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, and Islamabad airports.
Large heaps of trash near Lahore and Karachi airports attract flocks of birds, which are a safety hazard for aircraft. This has caused bird strike incidents to increase at these airports.
DG CAA has directed the Deputy DG to install the bird repellent system on an urgent basis.
