ITF Postpones Pakistan-India Davis Cup Series

The heightening tensions with India over Kashmir conflict have dampened Pakistan’s chances to host its Davis Cup matches in the country.

Due to a military standoff between the two countries, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) has postponed the Pak-India Davis Cup series scheduled for next month.

“We have made the decision following an in-depth security review of the current situation in Pakistan by independent security advisors,” ITF said in a statement.

Islamabad was to host the series on September 14-15 on grass courts. However, the federation has now pushed the series until November. The new schedule will be announced on September 9.

It should be mentioned here that an Indian Davis team was set to travel to Pakistan for any bilateral series after 55 years of gap.

The last time an Indian Davis squad visited Pakistan was in March 1964. The series was held in Lahore, which India won 4-0.
