The increased cost of imported products has forced Pakistanis to stick to locally made products following a wave of duties on foreign luxury products.
However, contrary to general belief, Pakistanis prefer local products more than imported ones, proven by a survey conducted by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan. According to the survey, 2 in 3 Pakistanis favor local products over items produced abroad.
People from all the provinces of Pakistan were asked the following question:
Some people are of the view that things usually made in Pakistan are good whereas some people think that things produced abroad are good. What is your view?
The results showed that 64% of the respondents said that local products were better than imported items whereas 33% of the people liked foreign products more. The remaining 3% did not wish to respond or didn’t know about the comparison.

If the importance of using local products and it’s impact on the economy (mehangai) is properly propagated, imported items will not be bought by 99 percent people and we will save foreign exchange.

and what about their quality. pakistani company can never provide such quality. so i will prefer for imported products even they are expensive but long lasting..
Trade deficit counter strategy should not be the Issue then if its as simple. :)
Our local industry will grow due to ban imported products, we have our labor to work on local products, we can grow only by production not by selling imported products.
We need to work on the local industry. The product quality, here in our market we hardly find any pure stuff, plus the people don’t know how to sell the item. We have the worst packaging and selling strategy in the world. Why do we prefer imported items over local item because of the quality, the taste and the purity ( tho we never get a change to look into the ingredient they added while making those items ). We need to learn from the Arab states related to the packaging and food quality
Peoples are reluctant to purchase local product because mostly product are Geffen(ghatia)
