DHA Warns Tenants to Become Tax Filers or Face the Axe

Defence Housing Authority (DHA) has given two months to its members and tenants to file their taxes.

A notification has been issued to all DHA societies across the country. The administration has set 30 September 2019 as the deadline for filing income tax.

DHA members and tenants have been warned of severe consequences in case of non-compliance.

Failing to become tax filer with FBR within the stipulated period shall result in cancellation of membership/ tenancy rights.

The notice mentions that people that own 1 Kanal residential plots/shops, commercial plaza, tenants of residential/commercial properties will be included in this order.

  • DHA is not a tax authority the last time I checked. However, the speed at which we are handing over our civilian institutions to ‘them’, it seems only a matter of time!

  • Tenants living in One Kanal or above are included in it or all the tenants are required to file there return? irrespective of area of house.

  • Under which law DHA can issue such letters and what is the link of ownership or tenancy with filing of IT return.
