Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finalized the names for the head coach and bowling coach of the national cricket team which will be announced on Wednesday.
The chairman and CEO of the board, Ehsan Mani and Wasim Khan, will announce the new coaching set up in a press conference tomorrow at PCB headquarters.
The names were finalized following an intensive coach hunt after the non-extension of Mickey Arthur and company’s contracts last month.
The board formed a five-member independent panel that interviewed and shortlisted candidates for each post. The panel later sent their recommendations to Ehsan Mani.
While there is no confirmation yet, reports from the corridors of the national cricket academy suggest that former Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq is favorite for the position vacated by Arthur.
Other candidates in the run include Australia’s Dean Jones and former head coach Mohsin Hasan Khan.
Meanwhile, Waqar Younis is lead runner for the post of bowling coach for which West Indian legend Courtney Walsh, Yasir Arafat, and Jalaluddin have also applied.
Upcoming limited-overs home series against Sri Lanka would be the first assignment of the new coaching set up.
