Girl from Sindh Becomes First Ever Hindu Police Official in Pakistan

For the first time in Pakistan’s history, a Hindu girl has been appointed as Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI), after clearing a competitive exam.

Pushpa Kolhi joined Sindh Police as an ASI on Tuesday. Human Rights activist Kapil Dev shared the news on his Twitter account.

“Pushpa Kolhi has become the first girl from #Hindu community who has qualified provincial competitive examination through the Sindh Public Service Commission and become Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in Sindh Police. More power to her!”

So far, Sindh is leading the country in terms of gender parity. Just recently, they appointed Ayesha Abro as Deputy Commissioner of Hyderabad. While in January, Suman Kumari from Sindh became the country’s first Hindu woman to take charge as a civil judge after passing a competitive examination.

Kumari, of Qambar-Shahdadkot, was posted in her native district.
