Google Confirms Pixel 4 and 4XL Launch Date

With all the major OEMs already shipping their 2019 flagships, it is finally time for Google to launch its flagships. After a lot of speculations and leaks, Google has finally confirmed the date for it’s annual ‘Made By Google’ event.

The event is to be held on 15th October 2019, which does not come as much of a surprise, since the annual event is usually held in October, except this one has been pushed forward by a week.

Date aside, Google has not revealed any information regarding the event. The press invites only confirm the date and the City of the event i.e. NewYork.

What we do know is that the Google Pixel 4 Duo will be unveiled at the event. Considering how the last year’s Pixel 3 and 3XL did not do so well in terms of sales, the launch is pretty important for the company.

Specifications (rumored)

Thanks to the numerous leaks and rumors, we have an idea of what the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL might feature.

The Pixel 4XL is expected to come with a 6.3-inch AMOLED display panel featuring a 90 Hz refresh rate. The phone’s battery capacity is expected to be 3700 mAh, which, when compared to other current flagships, seems a bit on the smaller side.

Pixel 4, on the other hand, might be built around a 5.8-inch AMOLED panel and will sport 2800 mAh battery, it is yet to be seen how it performs with the smaller display.

Both the devices will have an iPhone-like facial recognition system and will have 6 GB RAM accompanied by 128 GB of storage, other storage options will probably also be available.

Under the Soli Radar Project, the phones will feature touchless gesture interactions dubbed as ‘Motion Sense’. Simple hand gestures will allow users to silence calls, change music, turn off alarms, etc.

The same technology will let users activate the display of their smartphone by just waving the hand over the device. This feature is being called, ‘Reach to check phone’.

There is still a lot that we don’t know about the upcoming flagship pair, so stay tuned for more updates.

  • Price: Expect the same ballpark for the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL as Pixel 3, which starts at $799, and Pixel 3 XL, which starts at $899.
