On 5th August 2019, India’s Hindu nationalist government unilaterally revoked the special status of Kashmir via a special Presidential decree. The disputed territory is now being ruled directly by the center as a Union Territory.
The revocation has led to a serious uproar from within Kashmir and from across the border. The Indian government, however, has silenced the voices of Kashmiris by denying them access to the internet and troops are maintaining the state of curfew in the heavenly valley even after one and a half month.

The move by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government to scrap Article 370 was viewed keenly not just in India , but by media organisations across the world.
