PUBG Mobile Has Earned Over $1 Billion in Revenue

Battle royale games on smartphones are quite popular these days, especially the likes of Fortnite and PUBG Mobile.

PUBG Mobile rapidly gained traction across multiple markets on its release. It is one of the biggest mobile games released in the recent past in terms of revenue, outperforming other battle royale titles such as Fortnite and Knives Out.

A recent report by SensorTower has revealed that the game has now crossed the $1 billion mark in revenue. A lot of this has to do with the game’s recent release in China as “Game for Peace”.

Shortly after its release, player spending skyrocketed to $167 million, which is an increase of about 748% from last year. This made PUBG the number 1 mobile game in terms of revenue for over three months in a row.

Even if China is removed from the equation, the game has still shown tremendous growth with players spending over $63 million outside of China in just one month. This is an increase of nearly 152% from a year earlier.

It is worth mentioning that these numbers don’t include revenue generated from PUBG Mobile Lite. As the name suggests, PUBG Mobile Lite is a lightweight alternative for older devices that don’t have the necessary hardware to run the game.

Fortnite, on the other hand, still has a long way to go before it can reach the $1 billion mark. According to estimates, the game managed to generate $752 million in revenue on iOS and Android.

Epic Games has yet to officially launch Fornite in China.
