A recent survey has revealed that Prime Minister Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) is still the most popular political party despite the economic crisis in the country. The survey report suggests that PTI lost only two points in popularity after one year in power.
Roshan Pakistan Opinion Polling conducted a survey in which they inquired people about the government. Thirty percent of respondents were happy with the government’s policies despite inflation and increasing joblessness. The popularity poll had ranked PTI at 32% after the general elections of 2018.

How well is PM Khan’s PTI polling a year into its term? Better than PPPP in 2009 and PML(N) in 2014. The PPPP had shed 9 points a year into its term in 2009, while PML(N) had dropped 16 points. PTI, by comparison, has dropped only 2 points based on an average of recent polling.
PTI government’s score is more convincing as compared to its two predecessors – Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
PML-N had shed 16 points after completing the first year in its term – slipping down to 17 points in 2014 from 33 in 2013.
Similarly, PPP lost 10 popularity points after one year of rule. They stood at 21 points in 2009 as compared to 31 in 2008.

Khan campaigned on a classic populist anticorruption platform. He presented himself and the PTI as outsiders who could provide a fresh alternative to the country’s two established political parties, the PML-N and the Pakistan Peoples Party, both of them led by family dynasties and beset with corruption and reputations for misgovernment.

The taxes you are calling hefty, i am pretty sure you have no idea what withholding taxes mean. They are adjustable against your annual tax liability and you can get refund if you paid more.
