The students of the COMSATS University Islamabad have prepared artificial skin that costs much less than imported artificial skin. Rector of the varsity made this revelation while briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology.
Our students have carried a successful experiment of preparing super-cheap artificial skin that will cost just 22 cents per square inch.
He said that the imported skin from the US costs at least 22 USD per square inch, adding that the development will revolutionize burn treatments in Pakistan.
The artificial skin is widely used in the Burn and Trauma centers across the country. It is also useful for the treatment of acid attack victims.
The COMSATS official also mentioned that one of their students has even invented a bandage that cures diabetics.
He said that the university ranked at 131st position in the region with over 400 foreign students, all of them getting education from local teachers.
We have over 400 international students but no foreign teacher in our faculty.
The committee chaired by Senator Mushtaq Ghani congratulated COMSATS officials for these inventions.
It can provide relief to patients with deep wounds from burns or accidents.
