Surprisingly, until now, Google did not have an exclusive recorder application for its pixel smartphones. It was an odd absence, even though users could install any recorder application from the Play Store, it does not top having a simple in-built recording application.
However, Google has remedied the situation, and not only that, they have managed to execute it better than anyone else. The Google Pixel 4 Duo comes with a built-in recording application that, along with basic recording tasks, transcribes users’ recordings in real-time. Users can even search the exact words that were spoken in the recordings to locate them.
Transcription is a very rare feature in recording applications, especially the ones that are free. Moreover, almost all the transcription applications require you upload the recordings to a server before being transcribed. That means a third-party has access to all your data.
This amazing new feature is courtesy of Google’s new language processing model. The shrunken version of this model comes with the new Pixel 4 duo. It can even recognize and identify sounds as ‘Applause’ and ‘Music’.
At the made by Google event, the company showcased an on-stage live demonstration of the application. The application transcribed everything that the speaker was saying with very high accuracy.
As of now, the application can only transcribe audios in English, but the company has promised more languages soon. Unfortunately, the recording app will be limited to Pixel 4 smartphones.
