According to the recent air quality report released by Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), particulate matter of 2.5 microns (PM2.5) is far more than the 35 micrograms per meter cube (mg/m3) set by the National Environmental Quality Standards (NEQS).
World Health Organization (WHO), in its reports, has stated that a large number of premature fatalities can be blamed on the air pollution with research showing that the PM 2.5 can enter the human bloodstream through the lungs.
