KP’s Right to Information Law Nominated for The Best Act at Paris Peace Forum

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has set another precedent for other provinces, this time in legislation.

In its previous tenure, the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) led KP assembly had passed a bill called ‘Right to Information Act.’ The law allows citizens to obtain information from any government department and public departments are required to provide the requested information.

The act was commended globally as it promotes transparency in government affairs and discourages corruption. In recognition of its effectiveness, the act has now been nominated for the Best Act at Paris Peace Forum.
