3G & 4G Users Reach 73.26 Million in October 2019

The number of 3G and 4G users in Pakistan reached 73.26 million in October as compared to 72.12 million in September 2019, said Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

The number of mobile phone users (overall) reached 162.98 million by October compared to 161.84 million by September, registering an increase of 1.14 million.

Jazz’s total count for 3G users stood at 12.255 million for October as compared to 12.504 million in September, registering a decrease of 0.249 million. Jazz’s 4G users jumped from 13.008 million in September to 13.821 million by October.

Zong’s 3G subscribers decreased from 7.965 million to 7.751 million while the number of 4G users jumped from 13.787 million by September to 14.221 million by end-October.

As for Telenor, 3G users decreased from 8.133 million to 8.032 million, registering a decrease of 0.101 million. The number of 4G users jumped from 7.613 million to 8.052 million.

Ufone’s 3G users decreased from 6.860 million by end-September to 6.695 million by October. Ufone’s 4G users, on the other hand, increased from 2.249 million to 2.430 million.

Teledensity for cellular mobile increased from 76.75% to 77.24% and broadband subscribers reached 75.30 million in October 2019 compared to 74.15 million in September 2019.

Complaint Resolution

PTA received 7,819 complaints from telecom consumers for different telecom operators including (cellular operators, PTCL, LDIs, WLL operators and ISPs) as of October 2019.

According to the PTA’s data, Jazz (Mobilink + Warid) users had the highest number of complaints with 2,694, followed by Telenor which stands at the second position with 1,675 complaints.

Zong was at third with 954 complaints i.e. 15.16% of complaints. Ufone had 929 complaints, making up 14.87 percent of the total mobile operator related complaints. PTA also received 561 complaints against basic telephony, with 556 addressed during October 2019.

Cellular mobile subscribers constitute a major part of the overall telecom subscriber base, therefore the maximum number of complaints belongs to this segment. The total number of complaints against the telcos stood at 6,245 in October.

PTA said that it was able to get 7,784 complaints resolved i.e. 99.55%.
