US Vice President JD Vance jokingly revealed that two very important people in his life are an Indian and a Pakistani — his wife and Pakistan’s military chief.
Speaking during high-stakes US-Iran peace talks in Bürgenstock, Switzerland on Sunday, Vance said: “I have joked that I have two very, very important people in my life. An Indian and a Pakistani. The Indian is my wife, and the Pakistani is Field Marshal Munir”.

The Vice President’s joke appears to highlight personal connections while maintaining diplomatic neutrality on the complex India-Pakistan relationship he has previously addressed.
This humorous remark follows Vance’s earlier serious statements on India-Pakistan tensions. In May 2025, he said a potential war between the two nuclear-armed nations would be “fundamentally none of our business”.
