One of Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) planes has been damaged after landing at the Sialkot airport this morning.
The Boeing 777 which was flying from Jeddah to Sialkot was taxiing after the landing when one of its tires burst on a rough portion of the tarmac, causing damage worth several hundred thousand rupees.
PIA’s spokesperson, Mashood Tajwar, said that the management has ordered a spare from Lahore and that the damaged tire was also replaced.
The plane remained grounded at the airport for at least three hours due to this incident.
Earlier in November, another PIA flight, PK-650 en route from Lahore to Islamabad, made an emergency landing after one of its engines malfunctioned during the flight.
The pilot switched off the failed engine and landed the plane safely at the Islamabad Airport. All 38 passengers on board were unhurt.
