Match 19: Rain Keeps Multan Sultans at the Top After a Dismal Batting Display

Result: Match abandoned due to rain.

Karachi Kings won the toss and elected to field first, mainly due to the overcast conditions and the possibility of the DL system coming into play later in the game.

1st Innings

It wasn’t a good day for the Sultans as opposed to what their fans have been accustomed to this season. Opening batsman, Zeeshan Ashraf never looked like he would get one away with his bat and fell after scoring just 2 runs from 8 balls.

Moeen Ali didn’t look like the flamboyant batsman he usually is and walked back after scoring 29 from 22. The next four proved to be a wall of sand for Karachi bowlers, who removed these in quick succession to leave Sultans struggling at 64/6.

At 102/6 rain came pouring down and the match was abandoned.

Pre-Match

It’s a Friday and it means that today’s match will start at 8:00 pm instead of 7:00 pm. Table-toppers, Multan Sultans, will take on Karachi Kings at Gadaffi Stadium Lahore.

Karachi have gained some momentum after the early hiccups and are now a strong team to reckon with. Multan have also been a really compact unit and they will take some stopping tonight.
