Local Testing Kits and Ventilators to Hit Markets Soon: Fawad Ch

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, Federal Minister for Science and Technology has expressed hope that ventilators and testing kits made locally will be seen in the market in the coming days to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.

The minister while talking to the media said that National University of Science and Technology (NUST) has developed coronavirus testing kits that have been sent for final approval to the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP).

The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has made ventilators in partnership with NED and Pakistan Engineering Board which will be sent to DRAP in the coming days.

He also added that he has taken multiple ministries in confidence and was optimistic that the products would be in the market soon.

He had tweeted that the ministry was in the final stages of approval for two measures including testing kits and ventilators.

He posted that “Two initiatives of the Ministry of Science and Technology are in final stages of approval 1) Corona Testing Kits (NUST) 2) Ventilators (PEC) this will immensely bring down costs of war against coronavirus. We have enhanced capacity of PCSIR production of hand sanitizers and health departments and banks are facilitating.”
