107 Year Old Turkish Woman Recovers From COVID-19

A 107-year-old Turkish woman has become the oldest individual to recover from the coronavirus. The virus has claimed thousands of lives across the country.

As per the World Health Organization, over 130,000 people have died due to COVID-19 all over the world. Of them, more than 60 percent were elderly over 60 years old.

However, the woman in question beat all odds to become the oldest human alive to have overcome the deadly disease.

Havahan Karadeniz was admitted to a hospital in Istanbul last week after she showed symptoms. She was moved to an isolation ward after testing positive for the virus.

She miraculously recovered within a week and was recently allowed to go home. She has been, however, advised to stay quarantined for another week or so.

On her departure from the hospital, Karadeniz received a standing ovation from doctors and paramedics who treated her.

Dr. Ozgur Yigit, the chief physician of Istanbul Education and Research Hospital was approached for comments. He said that so far, the best remedy against this deadly virus is isolation.

The best treatment for this virus is isolation, staying at home and maintaining social distance.

He said that the treatment for COVID-19 is possible following a correct diagnosis.

Though the elderly patient has been discharged from the hospital, she has to comply with the isolation conditions at home, he noted.

Karadeniz’s granddaughter, Molelih Cirag told state-run news agency Anadolu that her great-grandmother was registered as 98 years old, but her actual age is 107.
