Recently, it has become incredibly common for attackers to invade private Zoom meetings due to the app’s pre-existing security flaws that came to light because of the sudden surge of work from home. The company has already introduced a newer version with improved security, but now they’re adding another feature that should stop put a stop to invaders for good.
Zoom will soon add the ability for hosts to report meeting participants, a feature that will help the company track down trolls and attackers. The feature is set to roll out on Sunday, April 26 and should appear as a new button called “report a user to Zoom”. Admins will be able to turn on the setting once it appears.
Zoom’s release notes for the new feature briefly describe it as:
This feature will generate a report which will be sent to the Zoom Trust and Safety team to evaluate any misuse of the platform and block a user if necessary.
It is also possible that the company could report the malicious user to the authorities.
A few weeks ago, Zoom introduced passwords and waiting rooms in meetings for free users to prevent meeting invasions. Later on, they also removed meeting IDs from title bars so they could no longer be shared anywhere via screenshots, which was another effort to stop uninvited guests.
