Situation Report: 1,352 New Cases, 39 Deaths Reported in 24 Hours

Pakistan witnessed another steady day in terms of new coronavirus cases yesterday as 1,352 new cases were reported from across the country to take total to 40,151 confirmed cases across four provinces and federal capital and AJK & GB.

Sindh, for yet another day, lead the charts with 674 new cases on Saturday while Punjab recorded 383 new positive cases in 24 hours. KP, Balochistan and Islamabad recorded 169, 87 and 26 cases respectively.

Total number of deaths reached 873 with 39 new patients dying of coronavirus related complications in just 24 hours.

It must be noted that number of deaths have hovered around 40 mark for over 12 days now. And they say that if number is not increased in 15 days then that’s considered the peak of the outbreak in the country.

Not to be mentioned, new cases haven’t increased for five days as well. Which is a good sign, but in no way the indication of the peak. We will have to wait for few more days to be sure about the peak — as they say one can’t predict the peak, you can only determine it after its either reached or if its over.

With lock-down relaxations happening around 9th of May, our numbers from May 20th to May 31st are going to be crucial to understand the full scale of outbreak in the country after lifting of restrictions.
